The Helix, Dublin City University (DCU)

The 35th International Geographical Congress 2024 will be held at The Helix located in Dublin City University (DCU), Ireland. DCU is located on the northern edge of Dublin City Centre with easy road access, bus routes and just over 10 mins by taxi from Dublin Airport.

DCU is one of the premier education institutions in Ireland with a focus on innovation and entrepreneurship. It is a young, dynamic and ambitious university with a distinctive mission to transform lives and societies through education, research and innovation. Since admitting its first students in 1980, DCU has grown in both student numbers and size and now occupies a 72-acre site in Glasnevin, just north of Dublin city. It is also adjacent to Albert College Park which provides the perfect respite between sessions.

The Helix is a multi-purpose venue located on the Dublin City University main campus in Glasnevin, Dublin, opened in 2002. It is an impressive venue, with a capacity to seat up to 1,250 delegates in concert hall style or 1,050 delegates theatre style. This will be the location for our opening and closing sessions and for all congress enquiries and registration.

Other sessions will take place in the surrounding buildings so the entire congress is on one campus.

Internet Access: All participants will receive WiFi access that will work throughout the DCU campus.

Name Badges: Participants must always wear their name badges during the congress. Badges are required to access technical sessions and social events.

Smoking Not Permitted: Ireland has a strict ban on smoking and it is prohibited in all the congress venues. Please only smoke in designated smoking zones.
